Hosts Bangladesh will take on Pakistan in the opening match of the 11th Asia Cup scheduled to start at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on March 12. It is the third time Bangladesh is hosting the top cricket competition of the sub-continent, the others being hosted in 1988 and 2000.
The total prize money of the tournament is $2 million with the winners receiving $60000 and the runners-up getting $30000.00. The winning team of the group phase matches will get $10000 while the man of the match of each game will get $5000. However, the man of the final will receive $7500.
The four-nation meet with India and Sri Lanka as the other competitors ensures Bangladesh Cricket Board will get a purse of $2 million as the hosts.
